Description: R'fes has mocha colored skin and dark green eyes. His hair is dark brown, almost black, and is cut very close to his head. He's been known to go for the completely bald look at times. He usually dresses in browns and blues, unless there's a special occasion. Then he goes all out, dressing in bright colors and wearing all his accessories.

Personality: Laid back in terms of personal matters and relationships, but serious when it comes to work. If a friend comes to him with a problem, the most advice he can offer is, "It'll all work out somehow." If someone gives him a dragon to take care of, he'll work himself to exhaustion trying to find out what's wrong. Perhaps that's why he takes such a lax attitude towards other people.

History: Renfes was born in a small hold that tithed to Fort Weyr. His parents gave him up to be fostered, so he spent a lot of time shuttling between his small hold and the Weyr. From the beginning, Renfes was fascinated with dragons. He dreamed of Impression sometimes, but what he really wanted was to study them. He tried to get as close to the dragons as he could, and most of the time got scratches, bruises, and cuts for his efforts. He jumped at the chance to apprentice as a dragon healer when he was 12. Renfes was a quick study, trying to learn everything that he could about dragons and how to make them better. His plans to become the youngest Master ever were thrown aside when he Impressed Wintreth at the age of 17. He was on the sands, trying to tend to one of the dragonets that had injured a leg, when he was knocked onto his chest by the energetic form of Wintreth. From there, R'fes turned his life to making sure that Wintreth was the best he could be. He constantly fusses over his dragon, always encouraging him to eat this or to stretch that. He does still consider himself an active dragon healer, and spends most of his free time in the Infirmary.

When R'fes completed Weyrling training, he made friends with a Bronzerider named D'romir. He was there to comfort D'romir when Lyla died, staying with his friend for candlemarks upon candlemarks, interfering when D'romir's drinking got out of hand, and eventually following the bronzerider to Southern Weyr.

At Southern, R'fes continued the pattern of standing by his friend, making friends and taking lovers, though he never found just one person -- man or woman -- that he wanted to stay with. When D'romir left, he left as well -- but went to Ista. There he finally felt like he fit in, making friends and gaining respect from his comrades.

When Thread began again, the Weyrleader of Ista was killed in the first fall. R'fes, known for being someone people trusted with problems, was a friend to Weyrwoman Reale after the Weyrleader's death. Y'anc, the new Weyrleader, resented this mere bluerider's influence over the Weyrwoman, and began to snub R'fes and put pressure on him to transfer. R'fes finally decided he'd had enough and with Reale's help, arranged a transfer to Mountain Song Weyr.

R'fes was delighted to be reunited with D'romir at Mountain Song, and stood by his friend through the dilemma of Riyasara. He received a shock when a newly transferred Candidate came to his weyr and introduced herself as his daughter. He had known about her existence, but never thought to meet her.

Pets: Brown flit Fibanos. The opposite of R'fes and Wintreth, he's withdrawn except around people he knows well. He is a long, chocolaty brown with a wide wingspan.

Dragon Description: Wintreth has a dark hide, with a few bands of lighter blue around his tail and legs. He is on the small side for a blue, not too much larger than most of the greens.

Dragon Personality: Energetic and lively, a good conversationalist. Always likes to start conversation, talk to other dragons, and scares the heck out of humans by trying to talk to them too!
