Wingsecond P'rrin on Brown Pelinath
Player Name: Aria
Persona's Name: P'rrin (Perrin)
Age: 30 (1.12.4647)
Rank: Wingsecond
Description: 5'11", 240lbs. Sandy colored hair that tends toward loose unruly curls and falls to the base of his neck. His eyes are brown with hazel and gold flecks near the center. Fairly muscular, except around the belly, which has always been his soft spot. Quite literally, for his time as an Apprentice in the Bakercraft did nothing other than encourage his sweet-tooth and pleasure in a good meal. Though after his heart-attack when he hit 300lbs, he's been working out. His favorite colors to wear are earthy tones: clay reds, deep greens, browns.
Personality: Good natured and easy going, Perrin isn't a prankster or a clown, but he's always ready to put someone in a good mood. He has chosen to be an optimist in life, after some rough times as a kid. He's not a troublemaker, though he's not above flattering the cook outrageously if there are bubblies in the kitchen! His sweet tooth is his only major weakness. That and he used to be bashful around women, since they often overlook him for more muscular, trimmer guys. After much angst as a teen, he finally adjusted and got enough experience with women that he's accepted his own physique as it is, and while he's not bold, will occasionally flirt, and enjoys Pelinath's flights as much as his dragon does. A devoted lover and weyr-mate.
Gender/preference: Male, Heterosexual
History: Raised in Fort Weyr, Perrin is the son of the Weyr's head cook, a woman with incredible talent, as is always the case at Fort, as Cooking is one of the Hold Craft specialties of the area. Spending time in both Hold and Weyr as a child, Perrin spent a lot of his time in the kitchens, gaining knowledge, and a few extra pounds. His tendency toward being chubby got him teased mercilessly by Holder brats, but while it bothered him, he was determined to ignore their jibes, and Apprenticed to the cook at the Hold to continue learning about Cooking, the one Craft that really fascinated him. He very quickly mastered the basics, and focused his spare time on confectionary delights. As he has aged, the rest of his body is finally catching up with his appetite, and long hours of helping haul the heaviest of kitchen supplies - like massive barrels and bags of flour, wheat, wine - have replaced some of that pudge with muscle. While visiting his mother recently, Perrin found himself Searched by a Brown dragon from the south. He was asked to come stand on the sands at Southern Weyr. Perrin settled in quickly at Southern, his skill with sweets making him rather popular around meal times.
All was well until he developed a crush on a fellow Candidate, whom he had been terrified to tell, to the point of going into panic attacks twice, though those have abated. Then, to add insult to injury, the resident healer, put him on a very strict diet that turned out to be more than he really needed to start off with. The problem was solved by the Candidate Master who, having also been a healer, was able to moderate the instructions to a reasonable level. Two days later, at the hatching, Perrin impressed the brown dragonet Pelinath.
P'rrin loved his dragon immensely, but his problems, while having lessened in some areas, had increased in others. His feelings for his fellow Candidate -now Weyrling- continued to grow, to the point where he finally confessed that he was falling in love with her. To his dismay, she seemed unaffected by the statement, merely informing him that she wasn't even sure if she liked boys at all. P'rrin's heart was crushed, and he fell once more into depression, regained all the weight he had lost, and more, even as he put on muscle by following Pelinath all over the Weyr on the boisterous young brown's "exploring expeditions." When his best friend, the only girl he wasn't nervous around, tried to intervene to help her friend, his normally defensive posturing took on an unexpected force as he lost his temper for the first time in his life, exploding in anger and slapping her in the face. This terrified P'rrin, who had no idea how to deal with such a strong, raw emotion. Not long after, he was struck by a severe illness that was going around the Weyr and spend more than a sevenday in the Infirmary, unable to keep down food, and extremely dehydrated. Finally however, the fever broke and he began to recover.
Another slight moment of discomfort between him and his best friend occured when his brown, and her blue, were in the same flight. Neither caught, but the two ended up in bed together. P'rrin was very relieved when it didn't ruin their friendship, and when she wanted nothing more from him in that department. Slowly he began to get over his issues.
Constantly chasing his very energetic brown around the Weyr as a Weyrling helped him in the physical department as well, building up strength, stamina, and muscle, even if it did little to get rid of his slight gut. It doesn't bother him anymore, however, and he'll joke about it more than feel self-concious. Responsible, but not particularly ambitious, P'rrin was thrilled to make Wingsecond, an unexpected honor, and willingly accepted the offer to lead the mission to find an appropriate place for a Weyr further South.
When Bronzerider T'ken's previously unknown toddler son
appeared at the Weyr, P'rrin's job as Wingsecond became more important as he
took over much of the running of the drills. To complicate matters, Greenrider
Arice clearly had a crush on him, which he did not return. Fortunately she soon
became interested in Candidate Master Perianel instead, leaving P'rrin free,
but not after plying him with desserts for sevendays to get his attention. P'rrin
was thrilled when a Master Baker arrived at the Weyr, much to Pelinath's dismay,
for Bestin kept P'rrin as well-fed as the Brown rider enjoyed, and used P'rrin
as a test subject for all his new concoctions. Thanks to that, in some part,
P'rrin began to put on more weight and, completely unexpected to him, suffered
a heart attack a few months later. Since then, he has been on a strict diet,
and avoided the kitchens like a plague. Though the one thing that has helped
him get through is the love and encouragement of Greenrider Justine, his new
weyrmate, an old friend from turns before who moved to the Weyr.
Time, and love, have eased things. P'rrin and Justine were thrilled to welcome a daughter, Elenore, into the world. P'rrin loves being a daddy, and has begun to relax as time goes by and he 'hasn't' had any further health problems.
Pets:
Name: Nip
Species: Flit
Color: Brown
Age: 14
Description: A beige-brown, sprinkled, rather like brown sweetening, Nip's first
act upon hatching was to chomp down hungrily on Perrin's finger. Nip is the
calmer of the two brothers that are Perrin's.
Name: Swallow
Species: Flit
Color: Blue
Age: 14
Description: A brownish-blue, somewhat like indigo glazed pottery, Swallow hatched
and immediately imitated his brother by attempting to eat Nip's entire tail.
When he holds still, which is rare, he looks almost like a clay statue. Swallow
is the more adventurous, playful, and reckless of the two, always ready to try
something new, giving no thought to danger.
Crafter: Yes (formerly)
Craft: Bakercraft
Craft Rank: Apprentice
Specialties: Desserts (anything sweet, you name it!)
Dragon Name: Pelinath
Color: Brown
Age: 13
Description: A large brown, Pelinath is a solid dark chocolate color from nose
to tail, with not a variant to be seen.
Personality: Pelinath is a very energetic and athletic dragon. Very eager to fly, swim, and run, and play. Anything requiring exertion and boundless energy this dragon is up for. This love of activity comes with curiosity to match. He is also a very confident dragon. As far as he is concerned, the only differences between the bronzes and him are size and hide color. This idea has become more firmly rooted in him as he's grown, and being just barely smaller than a bronze, has been firmly entrenched. He's convinced that, someday, he will catch Gold. For the mean time, he'll certainly chase anything Green!
