Lower Cavern Woman Maia
Player: NPC
Character Name: Maia
Age: 47
Rank: Lower Cavern woman, Foster Mother
Description: The years have been kind to Maia, her hair is still raven black, and her waist is still narrow, though no where near as narrow as /before/ her children. Black eyes and a tan complexion on a heart shape face complete the picture. There are crows feet around her eyes, and smile lines around her mouth.
Personality: Maia is the matriarch of her little corner of the lower caverns. She acts and thinks the part. She's been a fostermother since she was 20 and instinctively acts the part. She is calm and diplomatic, and keeps her temper to herself most of the time. She also knows exactly when a brief display of temper can be effective in getting the undivided attention of anyone in the vicinity and will not hesitate to use that tactic if necessary. For the most part she stays in the background quietly nudging things along rarely making her presence overt.
Gender/sexual preference: Female Heterosexual
History: Born in the lower caverns of Southern, she was with the core group of lower cavern workers transplanted to Mountain Song. Her oldest is well over 20 and her youngest is 12. She had served as wetnurse and now, passed that, she serves as one of the weyr's foster mothers, after all riders with rider mates simply don't have /time/ to give all they want to their children! Her husband, Autalis, is like minded, and is one of the lower cavern men. He deals in most of the simple repairs, things it's not usually worth bothering the crafters about and general maitenence so things don't break down. The two of them form the corner stone of the Lower Cavern's gossip chain and the primary fostering ring. And why not? Most of the foster mothers are Maia's younger siblings!
Pets:
Name: Twit
Species: Firelizard
Color: Blue
Age: 27
Description: A pale powdery blue. He's long and thin, but always in motion so it's hard to pin down details unless you have a firm grip on him.
Personality: As scatter brained as they come, he's utterly useless for messages but absolutely wonderful for keeping the attention of small children for hours. He doesn't mind when they catch him either as long as they don't /hurt/ him. He's too hyper to stand still for long enough for them to loose interest.
