Candidate Layri
Player: T'star
Name: Layri
Age: 15 (9.27)
Rank: Lord Holder's daughter, Candidate
Description: Thick, honey-blond hair falls just past her shoulder blades where it curls slightly. Her heart shaped face, houses deep-set amber eyes. Her nose is a trifle too short, but makes room for the full lips of her bow shaped mouth. Her figure, while not yet finished out, is already quite good. She's tall for her age, skin fair as if it had never seen much sun.
Personality: Layri is used to getting her way. Period. She's been more than a little spoiled by her father's paranoid over protectiveness. She's used to having a handy lackey (Cavalor) to take the fall for anything /she/ wanted to do. She's just really starting to notice boys so Cavalor's constant presence is more of an annoyance than anything else at the moment. She certainly doesn't think she needs him around! The fact that he might be an eligible male never occurred to her. Most males she views as objects of experimentation. So far thwarted experimentation. Rules mean very little to her.
Gender/preference: Female, Heterosexual
History: Layri was born just prior to a tumultuous time in Cove Hold's history. The old Lord Holder had died abruptly leaving no clear heir as his only two children were twin boys. It ended in a challenge, a duel, and the younger brother (by 20 min) winding up named the new Lord Holder. The older brother, Laske, retreated to a smaller cot hold under the demesne of the new Lord Raske.
Shortly there after (when Layri was about one and a half) her father took in a young boy who had apparently been left to the hold's graces and fosterage. By the time she first really bothered to notice his existence, when she was three and he started following her around. She only vaguely remembered the stories of his arrival, and accepted everyone's implication that he was the son of her father's Guard Captain. So why /shouldn't/ he follow her around? His father followed her father.
At four she discovered young Cavalor didn't have much option in obeying her when she complained to her father that he hadn't let her go a place she wished to. To her utter delight it was /Cavalor/ who got in trouble, not herself. Being an ambitious child she set out to take full advantage of the situation, putting him in positions where he'd get himself in trouble no matter what he did.
At five she was most rudely awakened to a yelp by a strange man in her bedroom, apparently making a racket because of Cavalor. She screamed for her father more out of anger than out of fear. Things got confusing after that. The man was taking away and Cavalor was actually /praised/ for making him make the noise that woke her up. She was actually /ignored/ for a full five minutes!
Her resolve to make life hard on him simply increased. She didn't truly realize why he was there. She periodically attempted to give him the slip. This usually got them both in trouble, though she bore her father's icy looks and even toned lectures because she full well heard the Guard Captain producing his lectures at the top of his lungs. When the Captain dared scold her she ignored him, after all he was beneath her in rank, therefore beneath her notice, right?
As she grew older and boys started to notice her other than as a potential carrier of amorphous diseases, and more as the Lord Holder's Daughter. She started a new and, in her eyes, delightful game. She tried to see how many of them she could tease into embarrassing themselves in a tussle. As often as possible she steered them towards Cavalor, just because she /knew/ he'd have to fight back, which, she hoped, would stir him to rebellion enough to quit following her.
After a few turns of this the fights started to take different over tones, and her frustration with Cavalor grew. She started noticing boys as /male/ when she was a little older than 14 and with Cavalor around she couldn't even steal a kiss without someone watching her! Cavalor was mobile, annoying furniture… to her at least. The boys who tried courting her however did not wish to risk the burly 16 turn old's wrath.
When Cavalor was 17 and Layri 15, their normal state existence changed. First, Lord Raske's wife was pregnant again. This state of affaires did nothing to improve Layri's temper as she had absolutely /no/ desire for competition, period. When a rider came shortly after a threadfall, to check with the ground crews, his dragon sniffed out Layri, and insisted she go back. Layri agreed mostly to spite her father and mother for their /audacity/ in having another child. Her parents agreed because, with the baby on the way a strangle hold wasn't necessary. She was furious when Cavalor argued intensely to be brought along. Didn't the man understand she didn't /want/ him there?
It took everyone a little while to get things sorted out, and it was the dragon who did it. A wise old blue, he finally just suggested that they take two candidates for the price of one. Layri agreed only because it was the only way she could see of getting him to /drop/ the issue. Besides she doubted they'd let him keep up the routine once they got to the weyr! The rider and hold agreed quickly as it finally /ended/ the argument, and the pair were sent packing off to Mountain Song.
Pets:
Name: Brass

Desc: A very tinny colored bronze, his hide does indeed shine like highly polished brass. Not much to look at otherwise he is simply average. Average of build, average of wingspan, though his sails shimmer as if the alloy had some how crystallized mid process leaving speckles of silvery and cupric metals across their translucent breadth.
Personality: Brass is as arrogant as his pet. After all if she weren't the best /he/ wouldn't have wasted his time on her in the first place! He will flirt with any female, (of almost any species) and obviously thinks himself quite irresistible.
