Janika

History: Janika grew up in a small hold. She was the daughter of two other harpers. She's had a lot of problems in her life, including trauma, responsibility before she was ready, and childhood friend problems. These led to her eating disorder. When she was 10, she started controlling what she ate and when she ate it. It felt good to have control over something, when everything else was going out of control. Since she was left alone a lot, it was easy to do. She would get pies and all sorts of sweets and either only eat that, or eat a lot of it and then not eat for the rest of the day (or a few days as she got older). She tried to hide it, though, and whenever she would eat with other people, which happened quite a bit as an apprentice, she ate normally. Large break periods, however, had her going right back to the behavior. The problem has become so much a part of her life that she doesn't know what it's like to be hungry because of quickly pushing aside the feeling until it overwhelms her, which leads to another bout of overeating. Overeating has stopped her "full" alarm as well and she will not admit she has a problem. She seems completely normal to the outside world...unless someone can catch her.

Despite all the rough spots in her life and the ongoing problem, Janika's had some good ones as well. At age 6, she started singing just because she loved it as well as learning the teaching songs, and at 9, started learning pipes for the same reason. At age 11, she decided to become an Apprentice Harper. Her peacemaker personality made it easy to get along with new people and she made many new friends, some of which she is still in contact with despite moving away. When she was 15, her voice changed and she was able to increase her singing range, both up and down. She was able to make Journeywoman because of her talent and drive to succeed. She obtained her blue firelizard, Diver, as a present from her parents for making Journeywoman. She also has a younger sibling, a brother who decided to become a woodcrafter. She was transferred to the Southern Harper Hall, partially because it was connected to a Weyr. Her former Master wanted her to get experience with dragonfolk.

As she went to hide out and eat a lot one day, she met B'eau of green Sirenth and actually got to meet and oil Sirenth. This made her determined to go to the Hatching, despite the fact that she wasn't allowed. Since she was used to hiding, she managed to sneak in and to her suprise, she Impressed green Vocalth. Afterwards, it was time to face the music and a new life. Vocalth is already determined to help Janika get over her eating problem.
