Weyrleader H'dak on Bronze Palcurnith
Player: Fox
Name: H’dak
Age: 22 (5.30.4655)
Rank: Bronzerider, Weyrleader of Monaco Bay Weyr
Description: Slightly over average height at 6 feet 2 inches. He has dark, very tanned skin from living his entire life in the sun, plus some genetics. His hair is pure jet black, but he keeps it shaved into a Mohawk about three inches wide, from forehead to nape of neck, and only about two inches long. It is more comfortable beneath a riding helmet than long hair while leaving some of his locks in place. Plus, when he found the uncommon hairstyle ruffled the feathers of his superiors he made shaving the sides in this manner a regular practice. He spikes it for special occasions but otherwise just keeps it tidy and soft.
Personality: Contrary to the badboy look, H’dak is very jovial and friendly. Moreso than most bronzeriders, he is willing to spend leisure time with lower ranked riders and even weyrlings. He is a gentleman with the ladies even though his romances are often very unconventional. Work wise is as tough and dependable as any bronzerider.
Gender/sexual preference: Male, heterosexual
History:
Born a weyrbrat at Monaco, one of the many sons of an elder bronzerider, Huddak enjoyed life in the Weyr. When he didn’t impress his first stand at twelve he opted to start a trade and left for the Smith Halls to apprentice. It was a short-lived adventure among the hold-bound for he impressed from the sidelines at a hatching at Fort Weyr one turn later.
The miniscule egg at the back of the sands had rolled for sometime before coming to a halt. It was assumed the egg was not to hatch. But when the queen dragon tried to pick up the egg to take it /between/, the shell crumbled in her claws. A bronze, tiny and complete, came toppling onto the sand. The few remaining watchers were startled as the hatchling began to limp away from his mother and fell, exhausted in front of the young smith. Palcurnith was documented as the smallest bronze in Fort Weyr ’s history. The two completed weyrling training and took their place among the leadership of Fort. The boy grew into a strapping young man while Pal remained positively tiny, just barely hitting the size of browns. What he lacked in size he was able to make up for in speed. This coupled with the genetic stamina bestowed on him many winning mating flights.
Several years later a Gather at Monaco Weyr gave H’dak his old longing to return home. He was a creature of the sand and sun of the south. After a graduating Weyrling class wielded six strapping bronzes H’dak applied for a transfer to Monaco and was granted.
The pair flourished in the rich atmosphere and was given a Wing by the Weyrleader G’lfer. Though the Weyrleader didn’t necessarily approve of the young man’s cavalier attitude, he was likeable and an excellent flier and leader. Weyrwoman Parly openly held a disdain for the young man. Though she herself was anything but a textbook Goldrider she had no patience for any rider who was not up to her Weyr standard.
Suddenly, Elishath took to a mating flight off schedule. While not too uncommon during a Pass the queen had caught all of the leadership off guard. While the junior weyrwomen struggled to get their queens out of the area Parly was unable to make it back to her private weyr and instead, reluctantly, retired to the Flight weyr with the eager bronzeriders. During one of Elishath’s favorite stunts of flying straight upward like a rocket, Palcurnith snatched her at her highest point….and the excitement began.
Dragonrider: Yes
Dragon Name: Palcurnith
Dragon Color: Bronze
Dragon Age: 9
Dragon Description: Positively tiny for a bronze, Palcurnith is only about as big as the smallest of browns, approximately 30 feet long. He is bright, ruddy bronze all over his body with striking undercolors of pink and purple and blue around his face and neck.
Dragon Personality: Friendly but quiet in dragon social circles. He is neither proud nor ashamed of his size, knowing that he is as he is.
Strength's Weaknesses: Though genetics have given him a greater dose of stamina than other dragons of similar size, he can be out paced by almost all other bronzes in a long flight. During Fall H’dak and Pal are usually in the middle levels of the Flight.
