Rider G'ran on Bronze Brasseth

Player Name: Aria

Persona's Name: G'ran (Geran)
Age: 33 (5.10.4644)
Rank: Bronzerider

Description: 6'2" and about 200lbs, with short sleek black hair, and piercing green eyes. G'ran is very well muscled, though not bulky. His skin is lightly tanned from spending a good deal of time outdoors, but not overly so. His face is classically handsome. He looks striking in, and usually wears any nice shade of blue or green.

Personality: G'ran is one of those people whom most everyone likes, or hates because they're so likeable. He's friendly, amusing, gentle, and polite, with a bold and charismatic presence. However, he's fairly humble and nonchalant about it all, so it bothers others more than it bothers him. He has a mischievous streak, but age and added maturity now keep it in check. While he would never lack for a date, he prefers to be honest with women, and have them honest with him, than "try" as many of them as possible, like some might. This streak of chivalry is part of why women love him, and the other males often hated him when he was a harper and a Weyrling. It still causes occasional problems, now that he's got enviable rank to go with it. He doesn't fall in love easily, though he appreciates the beauty of women almost as much as their minds. Having lost the one girl he ever loved in a tragic accident not long before his Impression, he became even *less* flirtatous, if that was possible. Brasseth's lighter mood however, is sometimes catching, and G'ran will occasionally loosen up and join in the party when occasion allows.

Gender/preference: Male, Heterosexual

History: Born to Harper parents, Geran grew up in and around Fort Hold and Harper Hall. He played Big Brother for Aria from her first day at the Hall until his elevation and departure. It was he who gave Aria a flit egg for her 11th birthday, from his mother's gold's clutch, which hatched her bronze. They also got into all sorts of trouble. He got her into it as often as out. Including the time he nabbed a drink from the Hall stores (good Benden white), and Aria *insisted* on trying it with him. As he aged and matured, Geran became the hall's "Golden Boy." Apprenticed at the age of nine, he made Journeyman by fifteen, and can already play any instrument in the Hall, and play it well. His other moniker, given by all apprentices and many journeymen, was "the heart-throb of Harper Hall." Pleased as he is by the attention, Geran has never led on the girls who follow him so blatantly. He found, upon leaving on his Journeyman route, that the problem followed him in may holds as well. He was thrilled when he was given the chance to be the Hold Harper at Southern, and hopes that he will find a way to get women to stop chasing him! The ones he prefers are the type that don't go about chasing men.

While working hard at Southern Hold, Geran found himself in a relationship with a green weyrling from Southern Weyr, with whom he had danced at the Southern Hold Gather. He fell in love with the girl, whose red hair he found beautiful, and whose personality was one he found sparkling and interesting, even though she was self-concious and didn't find herself beautiful or interesting. Geran set out to show her differently, and even convinced her to come with him to the Paradise River Hold Turn's End Gala, to show her that her being born on Turn's End was not the curse that superstitious people made it out to be. They had a wonderful time. Then, only a few days later, during threadfall, the girl and her dragon died in a *betweening* accident. Geran went into complete shock when he got the news, waking up two days later not far from the Weyr, dehydrated and exhausted, with no idea how he'd managed to saddle a runner and ride out on instinct alone when he'd barely been able to walk straight. A weyrling found him and took him to the Infirmary. It was decided that Geran would be better off remaining there until his mind and heart had time to heal and he was fit to return to his duties. However, while at the Weyr, Geran was Searched. He had only one hatching before he would be too old to stand, and had no expectations of Impressing. Slowly, with his friends at the Weyr around him, he began to recover from the tragedy of losing his love. Then, most unexpectedly, he Impressed bronze Brasseth.

Always used to being one of the best at everything he did, G'ran took his Weyrling training very seriously, and his pride and competitive side came out more when he found himself challenged by another bronze Weyrling whose views of women were much more forward, and less respectful, than G'ran's own. It was a private feud that only once in a while got them into trouble with the Weyrling Master. For the first time, G'ran found himself having to deal with his own ego, something that had never really come to the surface, as he'd always taken his talents with humility and greatfulness for having them at all. Driven to succeed, he and Brasseth managed Wingleader fairly early on, and even did a stint as Candidate Master. Brasseth's forward nature also caused G'ran to take a few more chances with women, though he never tried to get too close, merely enjoying the companionship while it lasted, and trying not to break any hearts. Though, on the anniversary of his first love's death, and if occasionally feeling melancholy, he may allow himself to get drunk to push down the memory.

Naturally G'ran was one of the first to volunteer when his good friend was chosen as Sr. Weyrwoman for the new Weyr. All was going well, or so he thought, until a mishap with the odd berries in the kitchens, which caused something similar to intoxication. G'ran and Amzona ended up in bed together... once. From that one encounter Amzona concieved twins... and a rift formed between them. Despite Amzona's long unrequited love for him, G'ran never loved her as more than a sister, and so the idea of her bearing his children bothered him immensely. As did the fact that he wasn't really sure he *wanted* children! They argued violently, several times, until they were no longer speaking. Then, quite on accident, they ran into each other in a storeroom. A small cave in blocked the entrance, and while trapped inside, G'ran had to help Amzona give birth. The sight of a birth was not something G'ran had ever been prepared for, and seeing it come from someone he had been friends with... he couldn't handle. Certainly his stomach couldn't. After that he got roaring drunk, and spend several sevendays in the same state whenever he wasn't on duty. Brownrider Arrsan, with whom he'd taken up as a bed-mate, worried as he pulled away from her, and finally tried to confront him. It didn't go well, but G'ran finally pulled himself together.

The situation improved. G'ran went to visit the twins a few months after their birth, and that went well. Then, on another visit, he ran into Amzona there at the same time. They talked a little, and a tentative truce had, at least, been formed. G'ran apologized to Arrsan as well, and gifted her with two firelizard eggs, Flirt's entire next clutch. He and Arrsan were together for quite a while, though the sparks waned, and they eventually drifted apart. Eventually, Arrsan transferred out as well. G'ran, having had some time and distance from previous bad situations in relationships, enjoyed some time as a more 'typical' bachelor bronze rider. The lack of complications was refreshing. Though it was through this, that he began to realize that he no longer saw Apprentice Harper Tamara as the child he had befriended...but as a grown woman. A very attractive one. At turn's end of 4676 he admitted his feelings for her, and was relieved to find that she was still very much interested in him!

Pets:

Name: Lure
Species: flit
Color: Bronze
Age: 19
Description: Clutch-mate of Moroanth, Lure is clever, quick, and fairly laid back. He is often used as a clever distraction when Geran wants to avoid unwanted female attention. Lure has a distinctive spot of darker bronze than the rest of him that splashes across one wing, making him easy to identify. Thus it is easy for him to lead people off in the wrong direction. To him, it is a game.

Name: Flirt
Species: flit
Color: Gold
Age: 12
Description: Flirt is a very small gold, barely the size of a brown firelizard. She very much fits her name, flying almost as soon as her first clutch hatches, and sometimes before. However, her small size, and the tendency for her eggs to be large, leads to very small clutches, usually no more than two or three eggs at a time. Constantly hungry, and often egg-heavy, Flirt spends most of her time looking very much like a golden ball with wings.

Crafter: Yes (formerly)
Craft: Harper
Craft Rank: Journeyman
Specialties: Instrumentalist. He can play any instrument, and play it well.

Dragon's Name: Brasseth
Color: Bronze
Age: 14
Description: Brasseth is a large, very bright bronze, with a slightly red cast that makes him almost the color of brass along the top, but a lighter, more usual bronze sheen across his underside.

Personality: Confident and impatient, Brasseth is convinced he's invincible, and not necessarily the smartest Bronze in the Weyr. In fact, he's fairly typical, he likes to chase Golds and Greens, eat, sun, and gets an adrenaline rush out of flying thread. He discovered females at a fairly young age, and occasionally gets in trouble if a firm hand isn't taken with him, but he's very focused on his duties, because for him, thread is a challenge! He's always trying to get G'ran to lighten up, and sometimes succeeds, pushing G'ran to hang out with his friends, drink a little, and have some fun.
