Description: Shaggy dark brown hair -with lighter blonde streaks- that can't be confined to a decent hairstyle, and deep blue eyes. His features are delicate - from his mother - and he's tall for his age, already reaching 6' 01 ", having recently begun to bulk out, with broader shoulders, and torso, and being relatively well muscled from working out. He has made the shift from looking like a boy, to looking more like a man.

Personality: Caldre is usually very open and honest. He won't lie, even if it hurts himself to tell the truth. He's very eager when it comes to learning to be a good healer, and so that's where he usually focuses his attention. His gentle manner is excellent for dealing with people. Usually upbeat, a broken heart sombered him, and dealing with guilt darkened his view of the world. More recent training and events have brought him out of depression and brightened his outlook once more. He is more skeptical than he used to be, and immensely shy of getting into any kind of romantic attachment, for fear of another badly broken heart.

History: Son of Journeywoman Winecrafter Calondra, Caldre's early life was one of foster care near his mother, and being mostly ignored, though she at least cared enough to keep him nearby, clothed, fed, and -in her own odd way- almost loved. Yet Cal was entirely unaware of his mother's less-than-eager approach to motherhood, or her tendency to use him in her games, which often ended in breaking men's hearts. As soon as he was nine turns old, she happily turned him over to the Healer hall as an apprentice when he showed interest, and he was soon totally absorbed in his new craft. He was thrilled when given the honor and offer to go down to Mountain Song Weyr and learn under two respected Masters. He made a friend of a Journeyman named Decadre. The only dark spot in his life was worry about his mother, who's life had gone drastically downhill since marrying his step-father, and she was clearly miserable. Until an accident killed his step-father, and his mother moved to Mountain Song, where she recovered, and ended up marrying an old flame that she hadn't seen in turns. Since then, Caldre's life continued to improve. His mother and Decadre made it known to him that Decadre was actually his father! Other improvements included the entrance of a girlfriend into his life -his first- Sheile. They dated happily for several months until, not long before Caldre's fifteenth birthingday (turn 4676), Sheile turned up pregnant. To make matters worse, Caldre was blamed not only for that, but the charges turned to include rape. It was eventually cleared up that a Journeyman from Sheile's craft had forced her, and then scared her and threatened her into lying about the whole thing. The Journeyman was kicked out of his craft and arrested, but Caldre's reputation was badly damaged.

He was beginning to get over it when his father -a recovering alcoholic- had a relapse. Caldre blamed himself, and began to spend more time away from the family, trying not to make the situation any worse. Not that that really worked. He threw himself into his work, but that didn't really help him cope. Master Morgenna suggested he spend a couple of months at the Healer Hall at Fort, under her friend, a mind-healer named Master Kyrk. Skeptical, Caldre agreed. The time up north turned out to be just what he needed. No one up there had really even heard of the mess he'd gotten into, and so no one seemed to care. Kyrk was good at his job, and Caldre discovered himself rapidly healing mentally. Working with the Master midwife, Lianore, also turned out to be inspiring. Caldre began to learn quickly, and recover his joy in healing, as well as living. He made friends, and was learning so much he stayed on for several months longer than he had originally intended. He wrote home regularly, writing more to his friend Dione than even his parents. Back on track for Journeyman, he finally decided to come home at the beginning of the seventh month.
