*I have long lost his MOO inspiration alas and alack.

Araline and Dykarth
One of the smallest eggs on the sands rolled and rocked until it finally split, aqua green shell giving way to forest green dragon. Her tail was so dark a shade of green that it almost looked black, and her head a brilliantly bright green. The rest of her body fell in between, her back ridges almost as bright as her head, and her feet almost as dark as her tail. Her build was surprisingly thick for such a small green, bulky legs supporting a dense body.

The first word that the green uttered was {{Why?}}, a question directed first at the air, then at her mother. {{Oh, yes, I know I feel this urge to go claim one of those people over there,}} she continued, {{but why? Is there some reason we don't just live on our own? If we need a human to bathe us, why don't we just have one do it? Why do we have to live with a human our whole lives?}}

Eventually Monaryth urged her on, and the green started over to the female candidates. {{Why do I have to choose one of them?}} she asked Monaryth again, turning back to face her mother. {{Is there some rule that says those are the only people I have to choose? What if I don't want any of those? What if none of them are good enough?}}

Once again she was urged on, heading for the Stands, taking her time and looking around. {{Oh,}} she said suddenly, spotting Araline. {{Oh, I think I can work with this. I don't know why, but I think I'll like living with you. Why do I like you, Mine? Oh, I should probably tell you who I am, so you don't have to ask. I'm Dykarth.}} Then she paused, and looked confused as she glanced up. ((Mine?! What are you doing?!))

Asha and Capellath
The egg looked big enough that no one would have been surprised if a bronze came out of it...but when the unusually deep bugle came from it, several folks were surprised to see a large, solidly built deep honey-warm 'brown' shove his way out of the shell. His sound was deeper and warmer than most dragonets, and would only get deeper with age that much was clear, as with most dragons. He looked at the boys, but didn't seem pleased. Then, calmly, he made his way over to the girls...just in case. He was confident he'd find the right person eventually. It didn't take him long to stop in front of Asha. ((I am Cappellath,)) he said, in a friendly quadruple-bass mental voice. ((I'm hungry. After we eat, will you sing with me?))

B'rae and Kaldrath
When a smoky gray egg began to rock, bets were placed that it held a bronze. The thing was huge, rivaling some of it's neighbors in height. The blue that finally rolled out, though, was certainly no bronze. He was big, disproportionately so for a blue, and while he was TALL, he was also wide. Very wide. His dark, indigo hide was stretched tight around a frame
packed to bursting with baby fat. At least, the spectators hoped it would eventually melt away. He stumbled along, clumsy in his girth, but as he stepped into a brighter patch of light, some gasped. That dark hide was specked with lighter shades of blue, ripples and whorls of color reminiscent of a sea sliced open by a plunging ship. He sniffed, sneezed as he accidentally inhaled some sand, and bumbled around a bit longer before poking one of the boys. {{Braeden? I don't like that you look so much like the other one.}} The blue eyed Buroughs then turned *back* to His. {{But I can deal with that. I'm Kaldrath. Can we eat, now? Cause I'm really hungry and my stomach is empty… though I guess that would explain why I'm hungry. I suppose… maybe?}}

B'roughs and Inigoth
The brown that came from the fourth egg was small for a brown, but still bigger than a large blue. His hide was almost rippled, like water, with variant shades of brown from near-black to a rich brandy. His build was light, almost whippy, and he carried himself with a slightly arrogant expression as he did his best to stride along the sands. His tail was almost a weapon as it whipped back and forth, knocking several candidates to the ground as he passed. Despite the casual air, he was actually looking everyone over *very* carefully. He didn't want to make a mistake. Finally, he strode up to Buroughs, and looked him in the eye. ((I am Inigoth, your dragon. You are mine. Prepare to feed me.))

C'ai and Galahath
The last and largest egg in the clutch, the pink and white, started rocking violently before finally splitting open. A massive bronze climbed out of the remnants of his shell and strode forward, taking his first steps confidently. He looked around and saw that he was the last one to have come out, and drew himself up further, standing proudly among the shards. His hide was adorned with bold streaks of dark bronze across a lighter, shimmering bronze that glinted in the remainder of the sun’s light. He arched his head skywards as he stretched out his wings, still glistening slightly with moisture from the egg. Then he folded his wings back down and started walking forward confidently, seeming to take pride and joy in every step he took.

Most of the male Candidates had been claimed by this point, but there were still some left. The bronze stopped a fair distance away and scanned the faces, searching for something. He swished his tail back and forth in the sands, peering intently. Then he straightened up again, once more holding himself with pride, before striding forward and heading straight for Cailetainis.

{{Greetings. I am Galahath,}} he stated confidently. {{You seem like a brave and adventurous young man. I think we will make an excellent pair. The saying, two are stronger than one, is quite true.}}

Chantal and Lyrath
The second golden egg -this one clearly marked with golden flecks- had also taken her time hatching. Nearly half-way through the hatching she finally broke free, cracking one end of the shell off so it swung open almost like a door, spilling her out into the light, a deep, burnished gold, nearing on a bronzy shade, flecked with lighter gold across her face and down the ridge of her neck, then out across her wings. Like her sister, this one didn't seem to be in much of a hurry either. In that, both of the golds were like their mother. She began to move in a steady circle, looking several girls in the face, then moving on, her eyes whirling with a little more anxiety as she passed by several girls. She paused briefly in front of Kitt, then nosed right past her and sniffed Chantal's hair. ((You are the one I seek!)) she said happily. ((I am Lyrrath. And you are Mine now, and for always!))

C'valor and Maniath
The largest egg in Monaryth's clutch gave one final rock before splitting open, and a massive bronze poked his head out from the shards. His head was a light, sandy bronze, but as he came out and revealed more of his hide, it was shown to get a little darker, until around his midsection, where the trend reversed and the shade got lighter. The tip of his tail was almost white.

The look on his face as he exited the shell was hard to describe to anyone who hadn't seen it. He looked excited about the prospect of going out into the big wide world and seeing everything beyond the shell. But at the same time, there was a fear warring with that excitement, a "what if?" type look that would have been better placed on a child fearful of monsters under the bed, instead of this massive, supposedly fearless bronze.

Eventually, it seemed, excitement won out, and he made a run across the sands. He deliberately avoided the other eggs, fearful that one of them would hatch and take His before he could find him! He had to stay away and move quickly, or else they were going to get them. As he approached the Candidates, he looked at all of them, casting glances behind him to make sure that none of his clutchsiblings were going to come and grab the one boy he wanted. His demeanor changed the minute he spotted Cavalor, and he *bounced* happily before butting his head against the boy's hand.

{{Oh, good!}} he said. {{I was afraid someone else had already taken you! I'm Maniath.}} But then his shoulders slumped again. {{You do like me, don't you? I'd just ... DIE ... if you didn't!}}

J'ai and Oberath
A soft gray egg hatched next, revealing a quiet, unobtrusive-looking brown. He took a few tentative steps forward, looking around. {{So beautiful,}} he said softly. {{It is truly a wonderful thing to behold.}}

His hide was a gently swirling mixture of two light tones of brown.  One was earthy, and one was more tan-looking. His entire figure looked soft, with everything rounded or tapering. Even his claws were blunted.

{{Now, to find the one,}} he said. {{The one who will complete my life, give me meaning, teach me what it means to be a dragon. Ah, it will be wonderful. To feel whole. Even now, when I am young, I sense the absence of something. A powerful force compels me over to those boys. Yes, the boys. Though a girl may have different perspectives on
things, I feel a kinship with one of the boys.}} Even as he'd been speaking, his thoughts had penetrated Jaime's mind.

{{Young Jaime,}} he finally said. {{I have found you, at last. I am Oberath, and now we are together.}}

J'ohn and Corsaith
Two cream colored eggs broke shell at roughly the same time, revealing a blue and a green. Both of them were studies in oceanic shades, the blue was a bright tropical blue while the green more resembled the icey green tones of the more northern seas. They looked at each other and set forth stalking their intended victims… er life mates.

In the back of the hatching sands, having determined they wouldn't impress a pair of boys, one apprentice from the farmcrafters, one weyrbrat brought here from telgar at the starting of the weyr were locked in a passionate embrace. Both boys, though still in their robes, seemed completely oblivious to what was going on. The green made a bee line to the darkhaired weyrbrat, and the blue made equally strait for the frecklefaced blond of a farmcrafter. The two turned towards their dragons completely incredulous.

The blue swaggered to a stop like a drunken sailor and the boy, Jahohn, J'ohn now, looked at his dragon and blushed bright scarlet, "Corsaith! What are you... I mean…"

The weyrbrat seemed to be taking it much better than his erstwhile crush, though is green seemed suspicious and demanding, A'lon, formerly Avylon, stared and tried to placate her, "Yes, yes, I know you're hungry Maath."

The two pairs wobbled off together, riders almost as shaky as their bonds, seriously hoping the weyrling master hadn't seen what they were doing /before/ they impressed.

Katabelai and Ryisth
A long, pale blue and green egg followed after that flamboyant display. The rocking actually began during Fafneth’s showboating, but took its time to actually display cracks along the side. Slowly, the shell split and fell away. The green inside hadn’t spread her wings yet, and she only did so when she was certain that her brother had moved on and everyone was looking at *her*. Her wings, normally the palest part of a dragon, were an extremely dark green, letting almost no light through. She had a longer than usual neck, elongating her entire body, and making her look almost as large as a blue, or even a very small brown. The rest of her body was just a hint lighter, not as dramatic as her wings, which almost blocked the sun. Then, as soon as she had let everyone else get a good look at her, she perked up and moved forward, bounding past Zahavath and out to the Candidates. Her eagerness carried her *past* most of the Candidates. She realized her error and turned around quickly, shoving sand away as she went. She kept bouncing as she eagerly ran in front of both the male and female Candidates, running back and forth almost too quickly for them to get a close look at her. Finally, she skidded to a halt again, this time in front of Katabelai. {{Ooh! You!}} she said. {{Hi! Um, I’m Ryisth! This is going to be great!}} There was a noticeable pause. {{Right?}}

Layri and Suwith
A pale orange egg with hints of yellow around the center began rocking back and forth slowly before finally cracking right on one of the yellow areas. The green that came out was not particularly graceful, as some greens are. She had a very round body –– not exactly chubby, but no one would call her lithe and thin. Her hide was a very pale green, looking almost yellow in places. Her tail, especially, shaded very light and pale towards its tip. She had a hard time getting her balance, but finally managed to take a few shaky steps forward away from the shards of her egg.

Scanning the crowd, she seemed to perk up as her eyes lighted on the female candidates. She made a beeline for them, ignoring anyone and anything that was in her way. She didn’t hesitate once before nudging Layri with her head. {{You!}} she said excitedly. {{I knew I’d find you here. After all, you’re Mine, so you *have* to be here.}} She gave a very human-like nod. {{Anyway, I’m Suwith and I’m very hungry, so you should take me to get food now.}}

Meara and Pyrrth
The next green to hatch wasn't exactly the most beautiful on the Sands. Her hide looked like a patchwork quilt, varying from light tones of green to dark ones, never staying one color for more than a mere snippet of her hide. She had very prominent eyeridges and an exceptionally long neck, and looked decidedly odd. She ignored the pointing and mutters from the stands, and instead looked at the Candidates. Hers was over there somewhere, she knew it.

Calmly she began to make her way across the Sands. She felt an urge to find someone, so it must be someone in one of those white robes. She also felt a sensation in her belly, which she knew must be hunger. So the person in the white robe that she chose would help her get the food. A very logical procedure to her mind. She also sensed the monumental importance of this choice, so she took a long time to make up her mind, practically wearing a track from one end of the females to another.

Finally she stopped in front of Meara and lowered her head. {{I am Pyrrth,}} she said. {{You are Mine now, and Mine feeds me, so you must feed me.}}

P'lor and Quippith
The egg was small, and spotted in white on pale green. It popped open, and a blue staggered and hopped dramatically out onto the sands, tumbling over himself and falling flat on his face. Eagerly, he lept back upwards making a serious of whiffling and burbling sounds that were as odd as his markings, patches of midnight blue on pale sky. His eyes whirled with the flame-like hints that signified hunger. ((Oh..frabjous day!)) he announced. He didn't know what it meant, but it sounded good enough to be a word. He lashed his tail, trying to make a whipping snap sound -it was dramatic!- but had no luck. With a snort and a sigh he looked around. None in the stands caught his fancy, nor did the girls. After several minutes of 'trying' to strut dramatically, he determined the 'right' boy. ((I'm Quippith,)) he introduced himself, sitting down in front of Pelor, egg-goop smearing on the boy as he nosed him. ((Oh...sorry, I'm all slivy!)) He wasn't sure what the right word for it was, but that one sounded good too!

R'cillon and Lillioth
The next egg splintered, falling into a shower of blue to reveal a delicately made green with a soft fern-green hide. Her demeanor was far flashier however, as she arched her wings and eyed the crowd. She looked down her finely tapered muzzle at the boys, and ignored her brothers entirely as she headed for a group of female candidates. Her small, lithe body slid along with a touch of arrogance at her own beauty. None of her *brothers* could look this good!

But none of the girls seemed...appropriate. Or good enough. At least, not the ones she saw. Suddenly she 'felt' a possible mental tug behind her and, on a hunch, spun around *sure* to find the perfect girl! To find herself face to face with... Racillon?! ((I'm Lillioth! You are....you?!)) she stared at the young man, protesting loudly at him. ((You're male! You *can't* be male!))

T'yr and Vodkath
The brown who staggered out of the next egg did just that, his feet seemingly refusing to work. His coloring was a very light, golden brown, streaked with a mix of darker and lighter speckles across his neck and back like rising bubbles. He tried walking, and bounding, neither with *too* much success, and without finding who he wanted either after several minutes of searching through the chaos. He began to look worried -and hungry, until he spotted who he wanted in the stands and staggered to a hault at the bottom ((What're you doing up there?)) he asked Tyrlaugh. ((You're supposed to be down here feeding your Vodkath!))

V'ance and Kurtanth
The bronze that came out of the blue-green shell was huge! One of the biggest in the clutch. He was a deep coppery-red with touches of brass that were a bit like his father's. He bounded out of the egg, managing not to stumble despite his gangly size and looked around eagerly.... and didn't see his! Immediately he began to search, first the Candidates, then eyeing the stands. Then the candidates again. Where *was* his?! The bold dragonet was getting annoyed, and a little worried! Surely *his* was here though. He couldn't be anywhere else!

It was just then that two small boys stumbled out onto the stands, shoved, and obviously running late! Well, that meant they required investigating! He lumbered up in front of them and looked down, eyeing one, then turning, and sniffing Valance curiously. ((Yep! You're the one. I knew it all along,)) he said, bluffing, and clearly not meaning it. ((You're Mine! Oh... and I'm Kurtanth, obviously.))
