Charname: Ambermoore
Age:
19 6.15.2405
Rank: Starcrafter Journeyman

Description: Blood red hair cascades down well-muscled shoulder blades in violent profusion. Sharp, honed features are too mismatched for beauty, but the vaguely lupine effect as a certain appeal. She is tall and lithe, but with a very pronounced figure which she seems to ignore. Her eyes are an intense, piercing green. Depending on her mood, they range from a deep almost black jade to a vivid emerald. Her complexion is pale, as if no amount of sun could darken it, but startlingly devoid of freckles.

Personality: Ambermoore is flamboyant. A stereotypical red-head on the surface. She has a flash-paper temper, easily flared but quickly cooled. She has a good head on her shoulders, however, and while most in her craft and home would call her reckless, but all her risks are calculated. She is very intense and stubborn about anything that matters to her, sometimes to a ridiculous degree. She does have her whimsical streaks and very much prefers to be thought of as the fiery red head. She learned how dangerous it was to be /known/ to think for yourself from her sister. She becomes what she /thinks/ people expect of her: A flirt, hot tempered, good enough at her job to engender no complaints. It is slowly getting to the point where it is hard for her to tell when she’s putting on a show, or if she’s becoming what she pretends to be.

Gender/Sexual Preference: Female, heterosexual
Dragon Sensitivity:  6-Average Rider

History: Ambermoore was born to a Harper and the Lord Helanden of Barione. His Lady, Vestra was not at all pleased when he presented her with a rival for her 4 turn old daughter, Helanestra. The 4 turn old and her mother made certain she had the advantage, though Helanden delighted in reminding both of them that he did have a choice in his Heir.

Ambermoore’s preferences were never asked, nor as she grew up did she seem to care that her sister hated her, nor her step mother. Her own mother raised her for the first four turns of her life, a time that she later cherished though it was only a half remembered blur of impressions attached to a face and a voice that she would not hear again. At four her father took charge of her. The next time Ambermoore would see her mother would be at her funeral two turns later. A bad case of fire head not caught soon enough to save her, unfortunately a far too common occurrence in the mixed-water marshes of Barione.

Under her father’s care Ambermoore quickly grasped the basics of the hold, a fact that vexed her sister no end and pleased her father, after all, Helanestra was forced to redouble her efforts in order to keep up with her much younger sibling. Neither sibling knew that this was exactly what Helanden had in mind.

As they grew the Lord of Barione fostered the rivalry between the two, Ambermoore did not particularly want to be Lady Holder, but she wasn’t about to be shown up by the spoiled brat that was her sister, and Helanestra used her age and station as eldest ruthlessly to her advantage. Lady Vestra did not make matters easier. She was determined that her own daughter not be ‘cheated’ out of her rightfull due. Ambermoore only noticed this in the growing hatred Helanestra had for her.

Once Helanestra hit teenage turns, things took on a new complexion. She had gone from simply a pretty girl to a raven haired beauty, she found ways of making Ambermoore’s life even more miserable. While certain levels of decorum were maintained, Helanestra used her impact on the males of her age group to
make certain Ambermoore’s life was as uncomfortable as possible.

Ambermoore’s temper didn’t help matters. As often as not she wound up challenging her hecklers. More often than not she lost those battles. While she wasn’t bad with a blade, her father made certain that both she and Helanestra were well versed in the uses of the blade, as a pre-teen she lacked both mass and training of the males of the Hold. Fortunately there was only so far Helanestra could, initially spread her influence, and Ambermoore frequently sought refuge with the Smiths, finding the Star Smith in residence especially fascinating. Her father did his best to discourage the contact but didn’t, ever quite, get around to forbidding it, and if it wasn’t forbidden it was fair game to Ambermoore. While she could not officially apprentice she spent every spare moment learning what she could.

Helanestra's mechanitions with the boys of the hold did not go unnoticed by their father, and much to Helanestra's outrage, he presented /Ambermoore/ with a wher-egg one day. They had breeders apleanty and Barione Isle was full of the wild ones. It was small, and the breeders who had found it wild were relatively certain it was from a green clutch which meant it wouldn't hatch. Helanden had different ideas, he and his father had both done a great deal of work with the creatures and while Halanden didn't have a gold himself, that was how Barione had established itself. Sure enough a sevenday later on the nose the egg hatched and out popped a very small blue wher. The fights greatly diminished in number though didn't completly stop.

Tensions rose until Ambermoore was sixteen and Helanden took sick with a marsh fever. They caught it early, but it wasn’t firehead though the early symptoms were the same. The healers realized their mistake too late. Lady Vestra used her influence to make certain that Helanestra, now 20, was named Lady Holder, hands down. Ambermoore was not inclined to protest. She did not want the job, nor the politics, nor the family bad feelings that would go with it.

The day she went to congratulate her sister was her last in Barione. No one heard what was said, but from Ambermoore’s expression when she left it had not been a pretty scene. She packed up and at once moved to the nearest full craft hall for the Star Smiths. Thanks to her early training, unofficial though it was, she made journeyman a bare three turns after formally apprenticing.

She had little enough patience for the more tedious aspects of the craft, though, surprisingly, infinite patience as long as it was hands on. She specialized in the making of Distance viewers, though her masters thought she could usea broader experience in the more practical aspects of the craft, so, immediately upon making journeyman they sent her to Benden outpost about as far from Helanestra as possible. Ambermoore, on the other hand, hasn’t given her sister, her sister’s paranoia, or Barione so much as a second thought.

At Benden she met a dashing young bronzerider, and much to her own surprise what started off as her usual flamboyant flirting rapidly grew to something much more serious. She hadn't cared that he was Outpost leader at the time. When he checked his transfer with her, she had no qualms about going. The Hall had few objections, after all there was a qualified Master down there already! And he wasn't likely to let her get away with JUST focusing on her distance viewers. Thus Amber arived only a few days after D'romir.
